The 2009 Roswell UFO Festival was a great success, celebrating the 62nd Anniversary of the notorious 1947 Roswell Incident. Every year thousands of visitors come to the UFO center in search of the truth behind all of the amazing stories. Main street is host to countless images representing that fateful event, and many merchants use the alien theme in their selection of wares. The first time one encounters all of this paraphernalia it is quite overwhelming, but nonetheless fascinating.
There are many fine museums, schools, university extensions, beautiful homes and architecture, and lots of talented people.

Chaves County is home to the infamous Roswell, NM, known for the 1947 incident involving mysterious unidentified flying objects. Dexter, Hagerman and Lake Arthur also make up towns within the county.
